America First Field, Sandy, UT – On a chilly night at America First Field it took RSL a while to get rolling but with a Hat Trick from Chicho Arango in the second half St Louis City was sent home without any points. The second half was definitely the Chicho show with goals in the 70th, 83rd and the first minute of stoppage time.
St. Louis struck first in the just the 3rd minute with a bending strike from Indiana Vassilev that put the home club on their heels. It looked like we were in for a long night but the boys kept up the pressure with several early shots that kept the St. Louis keeper on his toes.
The second half was the key for Real and shortly after Diego Luna was subbed in Chicho finally got his club on the board in the 70th minute. Chicho wasn’t done when RSL was awarded a Penalty Kick for a handball in the box in the 83rd minute and Chicho put his club in the lead for the first time in the match. After 13 minutes stoppage time were added Chicho put any doubts to bed as he completed the Hat Trick in the 90’+1′.
This is the first Hat Trick for RSL since September 2018. Real Salt Lake is currently in a 4-way tie for 2nd place in the west.
Next up for RSL is a visit to Minnesota on Saturday, April 6th.
