The Salt Lake Bees broke open a close game with six runs in the ninth inning, as they rolled past New Orleans 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The Bees led 3-2 going into the ninth when Nolan Fontana led off with a double to right field. After Sherman Johnson walked, Matt Williams and Tony Sanchez followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Bo Way walked to load the bases before Eric Young, Jr. brought home a run on an infield single. Rey Navarro walked to force in the fourth run of the inning. One out later, a fielder’s choice by Ramon Flores scored Way and Fontana drove in the last run with his second double of the inning.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 11, 2017) – Bo Way matched a career-high with three runs batted in as the Salt Lake Bees won the series opener against the Iowa Cubs, 6-1, Thursday night at Smith’s Ballpark.
Parker Bridwell (1-0) earned the victory in his Bees debut and first career Triple-A start, allowing two hits over five shutout innings and striking out seven. The Bees quickly got Bridwell some run support in the bottom of the first when Carlos Perez launched a two-run homer down the left field line. Way’s squeeze bunt in the second extended Salt Lake’s lead to 3-0, and his two-run single in the fourth gave the Bees a 6-0 cushion.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 9, 2017) Nate Smith fired five and two-thirds shutout innings in his season debut and the Salt Lake Bees defeated the Omaha Storm Chasers, 9-1, Tuesday morning at Smith’s Ballpark in front of 14,366 fans on Prevention Dimension Kids Day.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 8, 2017) – A late-game offensive rally propelled Salt Lake to a 5-3 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday evening. Omaha starter Luke Farrell was solid for the Storm Chasers, holding onto a no-hitter through the first five innings before Sherman Johnson came through to break it up with a single. Bo Way followed with a walk, which brought up Carlos Perez, who belted a single into center to bring Johnson and Way home to give their first runs of the game. Salt Lake would go on to tie the game in the seventh as Dustin Ackley singled off Bobby Parnell (L, 1-2) and was brought home by Shane Robinson with an RBI single to tie the game. The tie lasted just an inning as Perez and Kaleb Cowart lead off with back-to-back singles, and after a sacrifice bunt, Rey Navarro smashed a double into left to bring in two RBIs.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 7, 2017) – Omaha pitcher Christian Binford tossed seven innings of one-run ball as the Storm Chasers defeated the Salt Lake Bees 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Binford (1-0) befuddled the Bees bats all day long allowing just five hits and one walk on the day. The Bees would get their only score of the game in the sixth inning when Carlos Perez tripled and then came home on a single off the bat of Rey Navarro. Binford was backed by Park City High School alumni and University of Utah product Parker Morin who finished 2-for-4 with a RBI double.
