Salt Lake Bees get road win over New Orleans Baby Cakes 9-3

The Salt Lake Bees broke open a close game with six runs in the ninth inning, as they rolled past New Orleans 9-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The Bees led 3-2 going into the ninth when Nolan Fontana led off with a double to right field. After Sherman Johnson walked, Matt Williams and Tony Sanchez followed with back-to-back RBI singles. Bo Way walked to load the bases before Eric Young, Jr. brought home a run on an infield single. Rey Navarro walked to force in the fourth run of the inning. One out later, a fielder’s choice by Ramon Flores scored Way and Fontana drove in the last run with his second double of the inning.

SALT LAKE CITY (May 11, 2017) – Bo Way matched a career-high with three runs batted in as the Salt Lake Bees won the series opener against the Iowa Cubs, 6-1, Thursday night at Smith’s Ballpark.

Parker Bridwell (1-0) earned the victory in his Bees debut and first career Triple-A start, allowing two hits over five shutout innings and striking out seven. The Bees quickly got Bridwell some run support in the bottom of the first when Carlos Perez launched a two-run homer down the left field line. Way’s squeeze bunt in the second extended Salt Lake’s lead to 3-0, and his two-run single in the fourth gave the Bees a 6-0 cushion.

Real Salt Lake Acquires Venezuelan FW Jefferson Savarino as a Young Designated Player

SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, May 9, 2017) – On Tuesday, Real Salt Lake announced that it has acquired FW Jefferson Savarino on loan from Zulia in Venezuela, where Savarino has been one of the top up-and-coming attackers. Savarino, 20, will occupy a Young Designated Player spot on the roster and is expected to join the team in training Tuesday and will be active on the roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
