Four Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw a three hitter on Thursday night, as the Bees downed the Sacramento River Cats 5-2 for their sixth consecutive win. Starter Alex Blackford (1-0) went five and one-third innings and allowed just two runs on three hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Jose Valdez retired all five batters he faced, Brooks Pounders worked a three up, three down eighth and Kirby Yates tossed a 1-2-3 ninth for his first save of the season. Continue reading

Bees Comeback Road Win Over River Cats

Sacramento, CA (April 19, 2017) – The Salt Lake Bees scored six runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 7-4 victory over the Sacramento River Cats on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to five games. The Bees trailed 3-0 going into the eighth when Eric Young, Jr. led off with a single to center. Kaleb Cowart was walked and after a double steal,  Dustin Ackley drove in the first run with an infield single. Nolan Fontana brought home the second run with a squeeze bunt. Back to back walks loaded the bases for Ramon Flores, who singled to center to bring in the tying and go ahead runs. Young capped off the inning with a two run double. Continue reading

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 17, 2017) – Eric Young, Jr. matched a career-high with five hits as the Salt Lake Bees completed a three-game sweep of the Fresno Grizzlies winning 6-2 Monday night at Smith’s Ballpark.

Bees Beat Fresno Grizzlies 5-4 for Back to Back Wins

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 16, 2017) – Ryan LaMarre drew a walk-off balk to give the Bees back-to-back walk-off wins, taking a 5-4 victory on Easter Sunday. The victory was the 151st walk-off win in Salt Lake history and the first by a walk-off balk. The Bees had not won on consecutive walk-off victories since April 21 and 22 of 2015, beating Fresno on walk-off errors both nights.

Salt Lake trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the ninth when Shane Robinson led off the inning with a single. After a Kaleb Cowart fly out, Dustin Ackley drew a walk to put the tying run on base. Ryan LaMarre followed Ackley with a broken back single to score Robinson. The tying run then scored on an errant pickoff throw, moving LaMarre to second base. LaMarre then moved to third base on a wild pitch and with Rey Navarro at the plate Fresno pitcher Reymin Guduan made his move home before attempting a pick off to bring in the winning run. SL Bees Defeat Fresno Grizzlies 6-5 in Series Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 15, 2017) – The Salt Lake Bees walked-off the Fresno Grizzlies on a bases loaded base on balls, earning a 6-5 win at Smith’s Ballpark on Jackie Robinson night.

With the score tied at 5 in the 10th inning, Eric Young Jr. led off with a single to left field. Young then stole second to put the winning run in scoring position. Fresno pitcher Jordan Jankowski then issued walks to Shane Robinson and Dustin Ackley to load the bases for Ryan LaMarre, who would watch a 3-2 pitch sail by for a bases loaded walk to earn the victory for the Bees. The victory is the Bees first walk-off walk since May 14, 2010 vs. Round Rock and the first walk-off victory without the benefit of a hit since winning on a walk-off error on back-to-back nights against Fresno on April 21 and 22, 2015.
