Real Salt Lake has acquired veteran defender Jamison Olave from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for allocation money.  Per league and club policy, the amount of allocation money exchanged will not be disclosed.

Olave played five seasons with Real Salt Lake from 2008-2012, earning MLS Defender of the Year honors in 2010 and MLS All-Star and Best XI nods in 2010 and 2011.

The 33-year-old Colombian logged 120 matches for the Claret-and-Cobalt, adding 13 playoff matches as Salt Lake made the postseason in all five seasons he manned the back line.  In that time, he scored 10 goals for RSL.  In 2010, he anchored a back line that allowed just 20 goals in 30 matches.

He was traded to New York prior to the 2013 season along with Fabian Espindola for allocation money.  With the Red Bulls, Olave scored four goals in two seasons, playing 57 matches.  He helped New York win the Supporters’ Shield in 2013 for the first major trophy in club history.

Olave was a part of RSL squads that won MLS Cup 2009 and advanced to the 2010/11 CONCACAF Champions League Final.  He scored the first goal in Rio Tinto Stadium history in October of 2008 against the Red Bulls and the critical away goal against Saprissa in the semifinals of CONCACAF Champions League in April of 2011.
