He’s Back!!! Sabo makes an impressive return to RSL

Sandy, UT –  He’s Back!  Alvaro Saborio makes an impressive return to RSL after almost IMG_2583four months off for an injury.  It may have been the fastest goal in Major League Soccer Saturday night when Sabo capitalized on a great in ball by Javier Morales and headed the ball into the net, just five seconds and his first touch after entering the match.

IMG_2530On a night that looked threatening int he skies turned threatening on the pitch, for FC Dallas, as Real Salt Lake came out with an intensity that they could not match.  Robbie Findley who has not scored a goal in MLS play this season, his lone goal came in an Open Cup match, had a number of great chances early in the match and was finally able to capitalize in the 31st minute after a rebound on a shot by Luke Mulholland landed at his feed and he punched it past Raul Fernandez to give RSL a 1-0 lead.

IMG_2680FC Dallas was able to even things out in the 62nd minute when Michel Pereria took a free kick on the edge of the box that went right through the wall and past Nick Rimando.  Findley exited the match in the 67th minute and we were finally able to see Sebastian Jaime for the first time in and RSL kit.

Perhaps the biggest moment of the IMG_0432night came when Alvaro Sabario was subbed in for Olmes Garcia in the 76th minute of play and promptly made a header to the center of the goal off of a cross from Javier Morales.  The 2-1 score line held as Real Salt Lake was able to get 3 points on  the night.

Quotes from Real Salt Lake Head Coach Jeff Cassar:

On the Sabario Goal: “This might have been the fastest goal scored”

On the evolving situation of strikers: “There’s no letdown ever”, “Once we move one IMG_0372player off, bring somebody on, it’s becoming relentless.  It keeps teams pinned back. It keeps them honest so they can’t move up the field.  It’s going to be nice to be able to move a player off and bring somebody else on who’s just as productive”

“It’s got to be deflating to another team realizing that they have this coming onto the field to make an impact”
