The Reno Aces rallied for a 9-7 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Friday night to complete a sweep of the four game series. The Bees jumped in front in the first, as Shane Robinson and Kaleb Cowart opened the game with back-to-back singles before Dustin Ackley launched his first home run of the season over the bullpen in right field. Reno scrambled back to tie the game, but Salt Lake regained the lead in the fourth when Rey Navarro scored on a wild pitch. The Bees had a 5-3 lead in the fifth when the Aces scored five runs, as the first six batters reached base and took the lead for good on a three run homer by Carlos Rivero.
SALT LAKE CITY (April 30, 2017) – The Salt Lake Bees lost both games of a doubleheader against the El Paso Chihuahuas Sunday afternoon at Smith’s Ballpark, falling 3-0 in the first game and 12-3 in game two.
SALT LAKE CITY (April 27, 2017) – The Salt Lake Bees won their third straight game by taking down the El Paso Chihuahuas 13-5 at Smith’s Ballpark on Thursday night. The Bees offense pounded out 16 hits, collecting double-digit knocks for the 10th consecutive game. Rey Navarro led the hit parade with a 3-for-5 night, collecting four RBIs to lead the team. Every member of the Bees lineup reached base safely at least twice, with only Kaleb Cowart failing to collect a hit. Cowart went 0-for-2 with three walks to snap his hitting streak at nine games. Eric Young Jr. finished 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, including nine straight with two or more hits.
Fresno, CA (April 24, 2017) The Salt Lake Bees banged out a season high nineteen hits, as they outlasted the Fresno Grizzlies 12-9 on Monday night. All nine members of the Bees’ starting lineup had at least one hit. Salt Lake took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two run homer by Rey Navarro. In the third, they strung together four straight RBI singles by Navarro, Ramon Flores, Sherman Johnson and Tony Sanchez to extend their lead to 6-0. The Bees would add three more runs in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. Fresno got on the board with one run in the fourth and one in the fifth before Salt Lake scored three more in the eighth to make it 12-3. Continue reading
Fresno, CA (April 23, 2017) The Salt Lake Bees had their eight game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, as they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Fresno Grizzlies. The game was tied at 2-2 in the sixth when Bees’ starter Manny Banuelos walked Tyler White. One out later, he issued a base on balls to Teoscar Hernandez. Sean Isaac, who was called up from class-A Inland Empire where he had not pitched since April 7th, worked the count full before Colin Moran lifted a 3-2 pitch over the wall in right center to put Fresno ahead to stay. The loss ends the Bees’ longest winning streak since 2008. Continue reading
