Fresno, CA (April 23, 2017) The Salt Lake Bees had their eight game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, as they dropped a 5-2 decision to the Fresno Grizzlies. The game was tied at 2-2 in the sixth when Bees’ starter Manny Banuelos walked Tyler White. One out later, he issued a base on balls to Teoscar Hernandez. Sean Isaac, who was called up from class-A Inland Empire where he had not pitched since April 7th, worked the count full before Colin Moran lifted a 3-2 pitch over the wall in right center to put Fresno ahead to stay. The loss ends the Bees’ longest winning streak since 2008.
Banuelos (2-1) walked three in the first inning, which led to two runs, before retiring 14 straight Fresno batters before the decisive sixth inning. The Bees banged out thirteen hits, but stranded ten baserunners in the loss. Dustin Ackley led the way with three hits and one run batted in, as he has now reached base in sixteen consecutive games. Ramon Flores also added three hits, while Matt Williams chipped in with two hits, including a double.
