Utah Basketball takes down Fresno State 90-77

IMG_0095SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Utes rebounded from their close lost to Boise State on Tuesday with a 90-77 win over the Bulldogs of Fresno State.  The Utes now improve their season record to 7-1.  Utah guard Delon Wright scored a career high 23 point and dished out 12 assists with 6 rebounds to lead the both teams.  Wright’s night was topped by his continued brilliant shooting percentage going 9 of 12 from the floor.  Wright is in the top five in the nation in field goal percentage at 74.1 percent prior to the game shooting 75 percent in the Fresno State contest.

The Utes didn’t have a first half lead until 8:40 mark and traded leads 7 times and trailed by seven with 2:49 remaining. Utah went on a nice run and scored eight unanswered points by center Renan Lenz, Delon Wright, and guard Brandon Taylor with the last two points being free-throws by Renan Lenz with 4 seconds remaining  The Utes lead by one at the half 40-39,

IMG_0065The second half started with a few missed shots until Jordan Loveridge scored the first basket to put the Utes up 3 and the team never relinquished the lead. Loveridge scored all of his 13 points in the second half.  The Utes really took care of the ball having only 4 points scored on them off of the 6 turn overs committed.

  • Six Utes scored in double figures
  • Jordan Loveridge nabbed his fourth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds
  • Utah has won ninth straight home games and 11 of their last 12
  • Utah’s bench outscored Fresno State’s 27-9

Next up on the Utah Calendar is their second of seven homes games. The Utes host Idaho State on Tuesday at the Huntsman Center.
