SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Utes rebounded from their close lost to Boise State on Tuesday with a 90-77 win over the Bulldogs of Fresno State. The Utes now improve their season record to 7-1. Utah guard Delon Wright scored a career high 23 point and dished out 12 assists with 6 rebounds to lead the both teams. Wright’s night was topped by his continued brilliant shooting percentage going 9 of 12 from the floor. Wright is in the top five in the nation in field goal percentage at 74.1 percent prior to the game shooting 75 percent in the Fresno State contest.
The Utes didn’t have a first half lead until 8:40 mark and traded leads 7 times and trailed by seven with 2:49 remaining. Utah went on a nice run and scored eight unanswered points by center Renan Lenz, Delon Wright, and guard Brandon Taylor with the last two points being free-throws by Renan Lenz with 4 seconds remaining The Utes lead by one at the half 40-39,
The second half started with a few missed shots until Jordan Loveridge scored the first basket to put the Utes up 3 and the team never relinquished the lead. Loveridge scored all of his 13 points in the second half. The Utes really took care of the ball having only 4 points scored on them off of the 6 turn overs committed.
