Real Salt Lake defender Tony Beltran has been added to the camp roster for this week’s U.S. Men’s National Team. Wednesday’s international friendly against Mexico will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix Arizona. The announcement came after the Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC match where US Manager Jurgen Klinsmann was in attendance.
Tony Beltran was added to the roster to replace injured Seattle Sounders FC defender Brad Evans. Tony Beltran will make it four Real Salt Lake players to be called to the camp joining RSL captain Kyle Beckerman, goalkeeper Nick Rimando and midfielder Luis Gil. Gil also scored one of the three goals for RSL Saturday night.
Beltran has two caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team. Both of his appearances with the full team came last year, with Tony Beltran earning his first cap on Jan. 29, 2013 in a friendly draw against Canada before going the full 90 on July 13, 2013 in a 4-1 CONCACAF Gold Cup Group Stage win over Cuba at Rio Tinto Stadium.
The four RSL players will return in time for Saturday’s MLS Cup 2013 rematch at Sporting Kansas City.
