America First Field, Sandy, UT – The LA Galaxy put an end to the 15 games streak without a loss tonight at America First Field. The home team put on an energetic performance throughout the match and it may have been the loss of Chicho Arrango early in the match with an injury providing a bad omen for what was to come. What came later was a goal by Gabriel Pec late in the match to put an end to the RSL domination of the Western Conference.
The first half was dominated early by RSL and there were a number of chances created but it may have been the most ominous moment that happened in the 19th minute when Chicho went up for a header in the box and collided with Martin Caceres and both of them soon left the match. It was scoreless at the half and the Claret and Cobalt seemed to have control of the match.
After the break the home club seemed to still be in control but in the 74th minute Gabriel Pec took a shot from distance that slipped through the gloves of Zac MacMath in what ended up being the game winner. RSL fought hard the rest of the match and held the statistical advantage in all categories except the one that mattered in the only their second loss at home this year.
Chicho received 21 stitches after the early head to head collision in the match. The boys have a week off before another home fixture on July 3rd against the Houston Dynamo.
