SALT LAKE CITY (May 27, 2016) – The Salt Lake Bees fell 3-2 in their series-opener against the Nashville Sounds on Friday night. Former Bees relief pitcher Ryan Brasier received his third win of the season, pitching three shutout innings for the Sounds. Nashville pitching allowed 10 hits, but held the Bees 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Jefry Marte and Rey Navarro led the Bees offense Friday night both going 3-for-4, with Marte finishing a triple shy of the cycle. The Bees trailed the Sounds early by two runs, but rallied back in the third inning with an RBI sacrifice fly from Ji-Man Choi scoring Ryan Jackson followed by a solo homer from Marte.
The Sounds scored the last run on the evening in the top of the eighth after a RBI double from Renato Nunez.
Bees starting pitcher David Huff recorded three strikeouts while allowing two runs over four and two-third innings in his first appearance in Salt Lake with the Bees this season. Geoff Broussard (0-1) took the loss out of the bullpen after allowing the go ahead run in the eighth. Broussard, Cody Satterwhite and Javy Guerra combined for four and one-third innings with four strikeouts in relief. Bees pitching finished with nine strikeouts.
