Diego Luna returns to form

America First Field, Sandy, UT – On a balmy night at the RioT long time rival FC Dallas showed up ready to play. It was a very productive first half for the visitors with 3 goals to their credit. It was Peter Musa with a brace and Joaquin Valiente showing that they planned to show the home club that they are a contender. Sergie Solans tallied the lone goal for RSL in the first half, just enough to keep the crowds hopes alive. The second half was Real Salt Lakes turn to kick things into gear with a strike from Morgan Guilavogui in the 50th minute and a beautiful header past Sirios from Diego Luna in the 63rd minute to give the boys back in contention for some points. It wasn’t until late in the match that it was all settled with 90th minute strike from Ran Binyamin to put Dallas on top for good and a 4-3 scoreline.

Sergi Solans goes up high

It was a painful first half to watch. The home side came out with a lot of energy but that didn’t stop Dallas from finding their groove early. The first blow came in just the 17th minute as Joaquin Valiente sneaking one past Cabaral and giving his side a boost. It was just 3 minutes later that the lead was doubled with a strike from Petar Musa. The Claret and Cobalt looked like they were on the verge of scoring over and over again but they had trouble finding anyone willing take a shot. That changed in the 38th minute as Sergi Solans pulled one back to cut the lead in half but Dallas wasn’t done as they added to their lead late in the half as Petar Musa put up a brace in the 45th minute.

When we returned to the pitch both clubs make some substitutions but the energy remained high and this time it was RSL that struck first. This time it was a shot from Morgan Guilavogui who added to the tally in the 50th minute but Real still trailed by a goal. Pablo must have lit a fire under his squad in the locker room because where they had seemed reluctant to take shots in the opening half there were more shots of the chances created in second and Diego Luna looked to be in great form as he headed the ball into the back of the net in the 63rd minute to level the score. It was all part of a losing effort when Dallas added the game winner in stoppage time to capture the full 3 points.
