America First Field, Sandy, UT – The fans at America First Field have been waiting a long time for tonight where Chico scored his first goal in the Claret and Cobalt and led his new club to a win over Orlando City. Chicho wasn’t alone with his great effort on the night with Justen Glad, Jefferson Savarino and Anderson Julio piling it on in a 4-0 blowout. Let’s hope we finally have the striker the fans have been pining for.
It was a big investment Real Salt Lake made for Chicho Arango and the record signing paid off early when Chicho found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to put the home club on top. RSL was deadly on set pieces with Justen Glad doubling the lead before the half after Pablo Ruiz served in his second corner for a goal.
The Claret and Cobalt showed no signs of letting up after the half and came close to adding to their lead before Jefferson Savarino made it official in the 78th minute after he brought down the ball just to the right of the net and then banged it past Pedro Gallese with a rocket. Not to be outdone Anderson Julio put the last nail in the proverbial coffin the the 89th minute to wrap up the scoring.
Chicho is the 5th RSL player to score in their first match with the club. This is the first home win for Real Salt Lake since April 22nd. Next up for RSL is a midweek match against Kansas City before they return to America First Field on July 15th when they welcome the New York Red Bulls to the newly recharged RioT.
