Sacramento, CA (April 18, 2017) – Sherman Johnson drove in a season high five runs to lead the Salt Lake Bees to an 8-2 win over the Sacramento River Cats on Tuesday night. The Bees trailed 2-1 in the fourth inning when Matt Williams singled with one out. Francisco Arcia drew a base on balls before Johnson drilled a 1-1 pitch over the right field bullpen for his first home run of the season and give Salt Lake a two run lead. He would add an RBI single in the sixth and a run scoring grounder in the eighth.
Bees starting pitcher Daniel Wright (1-1) went five innings and allowed two runs, one unearned, on two hits to earn the win. Four Salt Lake relievers; Jose Valdez, Kirby Yates, Justin Miller and Greg Mahle each worked one scoreless inning to close out the game, as the Bees picked up their fourth consecutive win. Johnson, Eric Young, Jr., Kaleb Cowart, Rey Navarro and Matt Williams each had two hits, while Dustin Ackley drove in two runs without the benefit of a base hit. Salt Lake is now 7-6 and above the .500 mark for the first time this season.
