ALBUQUERQUE, NM (April 6, 2017) – The Albuquerque Isotopes scored four runs in the final two innings to complete a 7-4 comeback victory over the Salt Lake Bees on Opening Day at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque. Salt Lake struck first getting on the board with a Ryan LaMarre RBI double in the first inning before the Isotopes would take the lead with three runs of their own in the first. In the third inning the Bees strung together five hits to score three and take back the lead at 4-3. Things remained quiet until the seventh when the Isotopes tied the game on a RBI groundout and took the lead scoring on a passed ball. Albuquerque would tack on two insurance runs in the eighth on a Raimel Tapia double.
Right-hander Alex Meyer got the start for the Bees, finishing the night allowing five hits and three runs while striking out seven over five innings. After allowing four hits in the first inning, Meyer settled in to allow only one more knock over his final four frames. Bees reliever Cody Ege (0-1) took the loss allowing two runs (one earned) in relief. Chris Rusin (1-0) picked up the win for Albuquerque. The Bees offense was led by LaMarre who collected two hits with a RBI and run scored in his Bees debut. Rey Navarro and Eric Young Jr. also collected multi-hit games for Salt Lake.
The Bees and Isotopes will resume their series on Friday night in Albuquerque with first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. on 1280 The Zone.
