Real Salt Lake had plenty of chances the first half with a number of chances including a ball in the net by Yura Movsisyan called back when the AR raised his flag.  Referee Chris Penso went to his pocket over and over as he issued four yellow cards in the first 45 minutes and two more in the second half.

The home club came hit the pitch for the second half even more aggressive than the first and it paid off in the 53rd minute when Joao Plata was fouled by goalkeeper Brian Rowe and earned a penalty kick.  Plata put the ball past Rowe to level the score at 1-1.

LA didn’t let Real celebrate too long and appeared to be running away with the match with a brace by Giovani dos Santos on goals in the 57th and 64th minutes. Plata pulled back one goal with his own brace in the 67th minute to bring RSL back within 1 goal.

It looked like LA would steal 3 points until Juan Manuel Martinez pulled off a little magic in the 90’+3′ shot the ball directly at Brian Rowe who couldn’t grab the ball as it passed right under him and into the back of the net.
