Salt Lake Bees host the Albuquerque Isotopes

Bees_vs_Aces-3The Salt Lake Bees coming off of a three game sweep of the Reno Aces hosted the Albuquerque Isotopes Tuesday to start a four game series.  The matchup featured the Isotopes Jordan Lyles (1-1) against Zack Nuding (1-2) of the Bees.

After a couple scoreless innings the Bees drew first blood when Todd Cunningham hit a line drive double to center field scoring Rafael Ortega from second. The run came with one out in the bottom of the third inning.  The scoring continued in the sixth inning as Albuquerque scored 3 runs and the Bees scored one on a solo home run shot by Jefre Marte over the left field wall. After six innings the score stood at 3-2 for Albuquerque.

AJ8T3530The game changed to the Bees favor in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Bees hit back to back singles with two outs. Buss and Cowart both singled and Marte came up to the plate and drove them both in with with a hard hit double.

The Isotopes Tom Murphy hit a one out triple over Ortega in right field to setup a scoring opportunity in the top of the eighth inning. Ramon Ramirez who had come in to start the inning struck out one and forced a grounder to second to get out of the inning.

 

AJ8T3301The Bees added another insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to go up 5-3 on a sacrifice fly by Quintin Berry scoring Rey Navarro.  Ramirez was replaced by Al Albuquerque to finish off the game who struck out two.  The save was the fourth of the season for Al Albuquerque and the fourth straight win for the Bees. The winning pitcher was Cody Satterwhite (2-1) while the loss was given to Yohan Flande (L, 1-1).  The player of the game was again Jefry Marte who finished the game going 3-for-4 and three runs batted in.

The Bees will next be in action Wednesday with an early daytime start at 10:35 against the same Albuquerque Isotopes.
