Fifth seeded Utah is 14-2 all-time against the four seed St. Mary’s winning the only meeting in Moraga back in the 2001-02 season, 41-35. Utah is 11-10 all-time in NIT play and haven’t played in the invite only tournament since 2001. Utah won the NIT in 1947.
Utah is led by Junior guard Delon Wright who after 32 games is scoring an average of 15.7 points per game, Sophomore guard Brandon Taylor scoring 10.5 points per game, and Sophomore forward Jordan Loveridge with a scoring average of 14.7 points per game.
The first three rounds of the NIT are hosted at the campus site of one of the participating teams. For each game, the higher-seeded team will have the first option host unless logistical circumstances preclude such an opportunity. First-round games will be played March 18 and 19. Second-round games can be played March 20-24 and quarterfinal games will be played March 25 and 26.
