RSL falls to Dallas in a valiant 10 man effort

Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – Things started off of the wrong foot for RSL when Carlos Gruezo was able to get Dallas on the board early with an early strike in the 1st minute. Dallas controlled the ball early on until the 17th minute when Damir Krielach was fouled in the middle of the field, when he got up quickly with Guezo hovering over him and was shown a red card for a “head butt”.

After a slow start for the home team and now down a man it looked like it was going to be a long night however things started to look up with a shot from distance from Jefferson Savarino that sailed past Gonzalez to tie up the match in the 31st minute. The celebration didn’t last long with Paxton Pomykal answering with his own goal just one minute later. Dallas led 2-1 when the teams headed to the locker room and it looked like there was still a glimmer of home for Real Salt Lake.

Even with RSL having a serious possession and shots disadvantage they continued to push and kept Dallas from bunkering when they picked up play for the second 45 minutes. It looked several times like they would be able to pull back even but Pomykal earned his brace in the 64th minute. Marcelo Silva scored his first goal of the season in the 66th minute that Jesus Ferreria answers 3 minutes later to give us our final score with Dallas scoring four goals to two for RSL.

With a loss tonight RSL moves to 1-3-1 on the year and has the gotten a red card in each of their last 3 matches.
