Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – After a full night of attacking the Timbers, Real Salt Lake falls late in stoppage time. This time it’s Nat Borchers who puts one past Nick Rimando after a Valeri corner kick.
RSL came into tonight’s match badly in need of some good news. After a rough road trip where the only high point was the win over Guatemalan team Municipal, there is a lot of work to do to keep any hopes of an MLS playoffs alive.
Real Salt Lake in need of some defensive help looked much better with Olave back in the lineup. Just back from an injury Olave played almost all of the 90 minutes, only being pulled off late in the match because of some cramping.
Three great chances fell to the foot of Sebastian Jaime, one from six yards out, another from 12 yards out, and finally the last one from the top of the penalty area. He was unable to keep any of them on target.
Nick Rimando also had a great night in goal with the most impressive save coming in the 71st minute, when Maximilian Urruti sent the ball in to Diego Valeri who at point-blank range redirected the ball with his hip and Nick had to raise high and push the ball over the cross bar,
