Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – Real Salt Lake suffered their first 2016 loss at Rio Tinto Stadium against the Houston Dynamo, the last place club in the Western Conference. With only 4 more matches in the regular season RSL finds itself struggling to get results even at home.
With an important match next week, we can only hope that we see a much needed Morales back on the pitch.
Between the interesting take that Silvui Petrescu took on officiating tonight’s match, and the egregious time wasting by Houston from the start this was not one of the more entertaining nights.
It was a 36th minute goal by Alex, after he stripped the ball from John Stertzer, that made all the difference tonight as Houston was able to keep to their game plan. That game plan was to stay disciplined and to slow the game down as much as possible and they made RSL pay as the home club could never get into a good rhythm the entire night.
There were a number of great chances for Real to equalize including a corner kick awarded the in the last few seconds of the match. RSL drops to 12-10-8 in league play, but for now they are still in 4th place in the Western Conference.
