Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT –Tonight at Rio Tinto Stadium Real Salt Lake upped their current streak to 3 straight wins with a 2-0 scoreline against Western Conference rival Seattle Sounders. RSL dominated the entire match with an impressive 6 of 18 shots on frame while Seattle couldn’t get any of their 5 shots in line.
The boys in Claret and Cobalt had a rough time getting on the board as they had to wait until the 57th minute to see Corey Baird head in a rebound off of goalkeeper Stefan Frei. All night it felt like Real would add more cushion to their lead, but that didn’t happen until stoppage time when Frei was down field to press for a draw as Luis Silva is able to catch the open net from over 40 yards out.
This is the second match in a row that we saw Damir Kreilach start in the spot traditionally held by Kyle Beckerman. Kyle did start the match tonight but on the right side of Kreilach in the center. We’ll have to wait and see if this is a new direction for coach Petke, or if it is just a strategy fro this packed stretch of 4 a games in 11 days.
