America First Field, Sandy, UT – It felt like RSL was on track to bring home the win tonight but then the LA Galaxy find the goal twice in two minutes to take all three points tonight at America First Field.
It was like watching two separate matches tonight. The first half was relatively uneventful until the late in stoppage time when Damir Kreilach was called for a questionable hand ball in the box that ended with LA Captain Gaston Brugman beating Beavers on the Penalty kick to put LA on the board just before they headed to the locker room.
For everything that the first half wasn’t the second half was. It only took 6 minutes for RSL to draw even with a shot from Danny Musovski in the 51st minute. Pablo Ruiz put the home club on top in the 67th minute with a free kick just outside the box that sailed into the right had corner of the net. Things were looking up for the Claret and Cobalt but the Galaxy weren’t finished by a long shot. Rodrigez capitalized on some defensive missteps to level the score and just 2 minutes later Tyler Boyd put LA on top again for the final score of 3-2.
Real Salt Lake will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Texas to take on Austin FC then a quick turn around to host the LA Galaxy again next Wednesday, June 7th in the round of 8 for the Lamar Hunt Open Cup.
