The Bees continued their road after a day off to take on the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the first of a four game series. The rain continued for the Bees on this road trip as the game started an hour late. Starting pitcher Kyle Mcgowin took the mound for the Bees while the Dodgers started with Sam LeCure.
Kyle Mcgowin had a great start as he retired 12 consecutive batters until the fifth inning. The Dodgers got a run in the fifth on a squeeze play. The Bees respond with a pair in the sixth on a 2-out rally. Kaleb Cowart and Sherman Johnson brought home the runs. 2-1 Bees B6
Mcgowan was replaced by David Carpenter after 5.2 Innings pitched. Kyle gave up five hits with 2 base on balls, 2 errors and 7 strike outs.
OKC scored one run in the 6th to tie up the Bees at 2-2.
The Bees had opportunities to add runs as they had the bases loaded with two outs after two walks during the top of the eighth however the inning ended with a strike out.
Corey Brown hit a triple with a runner on first to put the OKC Dodgers up 3-2. The run was the first run scored against reliever David Carpenter in a Bees uniform. James Ramsey added three insurance runs during this rough inning for Carpenter with a home run over the center field wall. The home run was the 34th home run allow by Bees pitchers this year.
Chris O’Grady came in to replace Carpenter with one out. Nick Buss made a great throw on a hit to right throwing out the runner at home to keep the score at 6-2. The Dodgers added another run as they batted around the order all five runs were earned in the inning on 5 hits ending at 7-2.
The Bees tried to come back scoring one with no outs on a hit by Catcher Juan Graterol scoring Kubitza. A out followed by a walk and the Bees had hope. Ji-Mon Choi who was just sent down by the Angels to the Bees drove in a runner. With Buss up to bat a wild pass allowed Cunningham to score and Choi to advance to third with the score at 7-5. Buss and Coward struck out to end the inning as the fat lady sang with a 7-5 result. Jacob Rhame with the save, Carpenter (0,1) with the loss and Daton (1,1) with the win.
