SALT LAKE CITY – The Utes overcame a slow start and the slow down offense of Savanna St to go 5-0 for the season with a 71-57 win.   Ute forward Jordan Loveridge scored a career high 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Utah to a sweep of the four team Global Sports Hoops Showcase.  Just missing a double double for the fourth time in a row.

The Tigers were lead by Deven Williams who scored 16 points off the bench.  Savannah State is now 2-6 on the season and is the 5th team Utah has played with a losing record.  Although this is the best beginning for the Utes since 1998 the schedule has been soft and could end up hurting the Utes being prepared for the PAC12 schedule. The Utes are back in action this Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. when they host Ball State. This will be the fourth and final game of the Ute Holiday Food Drive as all fans who bring a non-perishable item will gain free admission.  Ball State will come to Utah with a 3-2 record and could be Utah’s toughest challenge to date.
