Salt Lake City – Kevin Durant and the Thunder stormed into town Tuesday night at the Energy Solutions Arena but the Utah Jazz reigned down with Gordon Hayward’s 37 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists to take the victory. A career night for the fourth year guard out of Butler as the Jazz beat the Thunder 112-101.
Despite another epic 48 point game by Durant, the Jazz defense, ranked 5th in the league, were able to outscore OKC in three quarters, hold them to 19 in the second and weather the surge in the fourth. Reggie Jackson scored 20 points, but no other player was in double digits for the Thunder.
The Jazz played well as a team, with six payers in double digits, Hayward leading the way though center Derrick Favors dropped in 15 points and Enes Kanter, Richard Jefferson and Trey Burke each having 10 points.
Cleveland comes to town next on Friday. They have a record of 12-23. Utah is now 12-25.
