Another RSL draw that feels a little like a loss

IMG_0736Another RSL draw that feels a little like a loss tonight in Rio Tinto Stadium.  Real Salt Lake met up with an FC Dallas squad that should have shown a little more fatigue given their schedule the last 7 days.

The night started off in front of a sold out Rio Tinto Stadium with fans looking forward to a potential record start to the season, but Real Salt Lake seemed to be in the same form that plagued them last week against Colorado for much of the match.

IMG_0891The first half of play was relatively uneventful as Dallas had a counter for anything that RSL was able to throw at them.  The most notable event of the half was when Joao Plata was forced to leave the game in the 41st minute after he re-injured his hamstring that has kept him off the pitch for several matches already this year.

Jeff Attinella had another great night in the goal for the Claret and Cobalt as he blocked 5 shots, and kept Dallas out of the net for the night.

IMG_0980The second half saw Real Salt Lake in better form as they slowly tried to get back in synch with each other, and they kept the attack on with over 65% of possession in the match, but they couldn’t seem to find the back of the net.  This is in spite of several good attempts and what seemed like a re-energized team in the last 20 minutes of play.

Another piece of good news for RSL, was the return of Robbie Findley who entered the match in the 65th minute substituting in for Devon Sandoval.  This is the first time we have seen Robbie since his surgery this past December.

Real Salt Lake (6-0-6) travels to CenturyLink Field to take on the Seattle Sounders (8-3-2) on May 31st.  This is the first meeting of the these clubs this year and it promises to be a great match, pitting the 2 best teams in MLS so far this year.
