Real Salt Lake ends 2017 drought in a flurry

Head Coach Mike Petke

Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – Real Salt Lake has finally ended the win less 2017 drought with a stunning 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps at the RioT in Mike Petke’s debut for the Claret and Cobalt.

Brooks Lennon played through snow.

Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – Real Salt Lake and the LA Galaxy met up for the first time in this young 2017 season with both clubs without a win.  RSL fans got to have a great look at some of the new talent with outstanding performances from Sebastian Saucedo and Brooks Lennon, but even with the early lead it wasn’t enough to overcome a barrage of yellow cards with LA pulling out the 1-3 win.

Yura Movsisyan put RSL on top 1-0 in the 18th minute when he headed on into the net, and it looked like all the momentum was on the their side.  It all began to change in the 34th minute.  Luke Mulholland was fouled by Jermain Jones in the midfield and he reacted with a push to Jones.  When we were finished both Mulholland and Beckerman walked away with the yellow cards. The game began in early-season fashion with neither team getting a firm hold on the game in the first 20 minutes with wind affecting both team’s ability going forward.
