Two Utes make All-Pac12 First Team

Utah vs ColoradoUtah senior defensive end Trevor Reilly and sophomore punter Tom Hackett were named to the 2013 All-Pac-12 Conference first team as voted on by the conference coaches. Senior defensive lineman Tenny Palepoi made the second team and five Utes earned honorable mention recognition.

Reilly was the best player for a Utah defense that is tied for first in the nation in sacks (39) and ranks third in the conference in rushing defense (130.3 yards per game). He led Utah in tackles (100), tackles for loss (16.0), sacks (8.5) and fumble recoveries (3). Reilly ranked in the top five in the league in all of those categories.

Utah vs Arizona StateHackett led the Pac-12 in punt average (43.4), punts inside the 20 (27) and punts of 50-plus yards (19). He placed 11 punts inside the 10-yard line. Hackett set the Utah record for most punt yards in a season (3,300), while his 76 punts ranks second and his 19 punts of 50-plus yards is tied for third.

Palepoi clogged up the middle from his position at nose tackle and finished with 53 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Earning honorable mention recognition were junior receiver Dres Anderson, senior center Vyncent Jones, senior cornerback Keith McGill, freshman kicker Andy Phillips and sophomore linebacker Jason Whittingham.
