SALT LAKE CITY (May 7, 2017) – Omaha pitcher Christian Binford tossed seven innings of one-run ball as the Storm Chasers defeated the Salt Lake Bees 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Binford (1-0) befuddled the Bees bats all day long allowing just five hits and one walk on the day. The Bees would get their only score of the game in the sixth inning when Carlos Perez tripled and then came home on a single off the bat of Rey Navarro. Binford was backed by Park City High School alumni and University of Utah product Parker Morin who finished 2-for-4 with a RBI double.

Luis Diaz (1-2) got the start for the Bees and allowed eight hits and five runs (three earned) over four and two-thirds innings. The Bees bullpen would help keep it close as Cody Ege and Brooks Pounders pitched the final four and one-third innings, allowing a single run. Pounders,  pitching for the first time since returning to the Salt Lake from the Angels, retired all six batters he faced with two strikeouts. Another former Ute, C.J. Cron suited up for the Bees in the first game of a rehab assignment from the Angels, but was hit on the wrist with a pitch in the first inning and removed in the third inning.

The Bees and Storm Chasers have two games left in their four game series with game three Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Monday night home games are Smith’s Family Night with four tickets and four hot dogs available for $20 at local Smith’s Tix locations.
