Javier Morales’ new club shuts out RSL

Javier Morales

Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, UT – Javier Morales made returned to the RioT tonight for the first time since leaving the club last year, although he stayed on the bench for the duration, his new club shut out RSL for their 3rd loss in a row.  RSL paid tribute to Morales and the impact he has had on this club.  It was great to see Morales, Rimando and Beckerman on the pitch together.

RSL hit the pitch with several starters watching from the bench and the stand.  Beckerman and Rimando are out with injuries and Plata was on the bench after a run-in with team rules.

Aaron Maund

With perfect weather for tonight’s match after rain and wind threatening early it looked like we might see an improved defense with Aaron Maund returning to the lineup allowing Chris Wingert to move to a more comfortable outside position.

Things did not start of the way Real wanted with in the 3rd minute of play Demar Phillips was called for a hand ball in the penalty area and Maximiliano Urriti was able to beat VanOekel to put Dallas up 1-0.  The home side didn’t let up through the first half, had plenty of chances against the visitors who seemed to decide they should bunker down for the remaining 87 minutes after the early score.

Yura Movsisyan

The second half started with the first sub of the night with Carlos Gruezo replacing Roland Lamah.  The Claret and Cobalt couldn’t find their groove all night, Coach Petke said that “things were done in slow motion”, with the slow transitions making it easier or Dallas to stay on top. FC Dallas had much better luck with Matt Hedges finding the net in the 67th minute and the final nail coming in the first minute of stoppage time with Urruti ending the night with a brace.

Luke Mulholland

Coach Petke was obvious “very frustrated, very angry, very disgusted right now”, with the only bright side he notes was about Luke Mullholland “who worked his ass off.”  We were assured that we would see RSL “play differently” next week when they travel east to take on the Revolution.
