Real Salt Lake has confirmed that defender Carlos Salcedo to leave RSL for Chivas de Guadalajara in Mexico’s Liga MX.  Per league and club policy, the transfer fee exchanged and allocation allotment will not be disclosed.

Salcedo played two seasons with Real Salt Lake and one with Real Salt Lake’s Arizona Academy.  Over two seasons, he played in 25 matches, starting 20 times.  In 2014, he logged 800 minutes in his second season on the RSL back line.  He scored his first career MLS goal on September 19 in a 5-1 win over the Colorado Rapids and started six straight matches to close out the season as Salt Lake went 3-2-1 with a 0.67 goals against average and three straight shutouts in the final three matches.

Salcedo was considered one of the young and upcoming players for RSL and was a hopeful to replace a depleted backfield that went through a number of changes during the 2014/2015 off season. Salcedo played several times with Mexico’s U-23 National Team, which is currently undergoing preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

During the off season Carlos was vocal on wanting to be released from his final year with RSL and went to his instagram and twitter feeds to vent his frustration.  His father was also focal on the use of his son during the prior season with some interesting tweets of his own during the MLS playoffs.  Salsedo was not happy with his sons playing time and said he was happy for the Galaxy rather than the team his son plays for and his son not being part of the lineup.
