SALT LAKE CITY, UT (April 16, 2017) – Ryan LaMarre drew a walk-off balk to give the Bees back-to-back walk-off wins, taking a 5-4 victory on Easter Sunday. The victory was the 151st walk-off win in Salt Lake history and the first by a walk-off balk. The Bees had not won on consecutive walk-off victories since April 21 and 22 of 2015, beating Fresno on walk-off errors both nights.

Salt Lake trailed 4-2 entering the bottom of the ninth when Shane Robinson led off the inning with a single. After a Kaleb Cowart fly out, Dustin Ackley drew a walk to put the tying run on base. Ryan LaMarre followed Ackley with a broken back single to score Robinson. The tying run then scored on an errant pickoff throw, moving LaMarre to second base. LaMarre then moved to third base on a wild pitch and with Rey Navarro at the plate Fresno pitcher Reymin Guduan made his move home before attempting a pick off to bring in the winning run.

“I took a couple hard steps… He took a step towards home, but then held onto the ball and ran at me,” LaMarre said. “It looked funny, I thought it looked like a balk. It was and it worked out for us.”

LaMarre and Shane Robinson finished with identical box scores, collecting two hits, a run scored and a RBI to lead the Bees offense. Dustin Ackley saw his nine game hitting streak come to an end, but walked a season-high three times. Alex Meyer got the start for the Bees giving up three runs over five innings, but received his third no-decision of the season. Jose Valdez took home the victory with a perfect ninth inning to improve his record to 1-1.

The Bees will finish out the homestand on Monday night against the Grizzlies. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Every Monday is Smith’s Family Night, fans can purchase four hot dogs and four tickets for $20 at Smith’s Tix locations.
