3-3 draw at San Jose might feel more like a loss

IMG_24013-3 draw at San Jose might feel more like a loss after RSL lead 3-1 at the half.  But there were some real high points from the match that we need to take away.  After San Jose started things off with Chris Wondolowski scoring the first goal of the night, Kyle Beckerman blasted one to the back of the net to equalize the score in the 11th minute. Throughout the night Wondolowski had not only some great opportunities, but also some great shots on goal, but time after time Rimando came up big to deny him a second goal.

IMG_2513In the 32nd minute Joao Plata put RSL in the lead and later during first half stoppage time, Luke Mulholland got his first MLS goal after being denied last week vs LA on a controversial offsides call.

The second half picked up where the first left off, but things where a little bit chippy as Nat Brochers was issued a yellow card in the 52nd minute and with San Jose receiving 2 more yellow cards before the night was over.

The heartbreak really started when Victor Bernardez took an assist from Shae Salinas and scored a goal in the 75th minute, and until the he scored again at the end of extra time in the 95th minute it looked like RSL just might be able to take away the 3 points.

IMG_2336San Jose looked more like the 2012 version of the club than the 2013, and RSL still had an impressive looking road draw that might just sting a little.
